SEDA College Year 11 & 12 Program



SPORTS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM


SEDA College partners with the biggest sporting brands and organisations in Australia facilitating real life industry experiences and student opportunities. The Program integrates SACE and Vocational Education and Training (VET) where students are immersed in industry through unique inductions, community events and work placements.

This combined with our applied industry-based learning approach helps students acquire the skills to support future educational and employment pathways.


Year 11:
South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE)
VET Qualification – SIS20115
Certificate II in Sport and Recreation*
Year 12:
South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE)
VET Qualification – SIS30115
Certificate III in Sport and Recreation*

Upon successful completion of the two years at SEDA College, students will achieve the following qualifications:

  • VET Certificate II
  • VET Certificate III
  • SACE (200 credits)
  • ATAR inc. 90 Stage 2 credits* (no examinations)
  • School Based Apprenticeship and Traineeship

*Only if you choose to pursue an ATAR.

SEDA College students experience a unique education pathway because of our relationships with several of Australia’s leading sporting organisations. Students are involved in industry experiences they will not find anywhere else. We develop Areas of Study and curriculum with our industry partners so that students develop the knowledge, skills and attributes of current industry professionals.
Through a tailored, individual approach known as “MyPLAN”, teachers will support students to develop these skills to set them on a pathway to success. Students will use the latest technology and web-based applications to learn, whilst developing transferable skills that will provide a head start across a wide range of industries.

Classrooms are located in local community settings at sport and recreation facilities, to maximise student learning and deliver industry-based experiences.

These venues are fully equipped with all the infrastructure required for a classroom setting, allowing students to complete theory-based learning as well as practical activities.

Selection into SEDA College’s Sport Development Programs are not dependent on skill and students of all ability level may apply.

Students must be an Australian or New Zealand Citizen or Australia Permanent Resident to be eligible for any of the SEDA College programs.

2021 Eligibility
Year 11 – Individuals must be born between 01/01/04 – 30/04/05
Year 12 – Individuals must be born between 01/01/03 – 30/04/04

2022 Eligibility
Year 11 – Individuals must be born between 01/01/05 – 30/04/06
Year 12 – Individuals must be born between 01/01/04- 30/04/05

2023 Eligibility
Year 11 – Individuals must be born between 01/01/06 – 30/04/07
Year 12 – Individuals must be born between 01/01/05 – 30/04/06

* Individuals who are unable to meet this requirement due to their individual circumstances will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Students attend SEDA College five days a week and follow a timetable similar to the example below. Classes include both theory and practical elements alongside industry-based learning experiences.

SEDA College fees for new Year 11 and Year 12 students in 2021 are set out below:

Sports Development Program*

Year 11 & 12 Full Fee: $4,850

Year 11 & 12 Concession Fee: $2,995

*A $100 non-refundable deposit is required to confirm a place of offer

What do the fees included:

  • Tuition expenses
  • Annual uniform allocation
  • Some incursion/excursions
  • Student insurance
  • Provision of a notebook computer (contains all coursework) and extended warranty
  • Vocational Education and Training Qualification (VET)

Please note, charges for optional camps, excursions and programs are payable in addition to the Student Fees.

There are three Scholarships available, they are are Excellence, Equity and Indigenous.

Excellence
Designed for Year 11 and 12 students who can demonstrate authentic excellence across one or more categories that relate specifically to the SEDA program.

Equity
Designed to enable Year 11 and 12 students to attend the College who may otherwise not be able to, due to one or more factors of disadvantage.

Indigenous
Designed to empower young Indigenous people who are passionate about sport, dedicated to reaching their full potential and committed to using all the unique opportunities that SEDA College SA can provide.

There are a number of Indigenous scholarships available. Indigenous young people who are passionate about sport are strongly encouraged to apply.

Bursaries are also available and are designed for families who may due to unforeseen circumstance require financial support to continue their education at SEDA College.

Bursary applications will be awarded based on an individual’s circumstances.

No, all students leave their current school to attend SEDA College SA programs. SEDA College is a registered independent co-educational senior secondary school.
Students travel to the program via public transport. The SEDA College program aims to develop students’ independence, confidence and time management skills and independent travel is part of this self-development.
Students are responsible for sourcing their own work placement with the assistance of their teacher and support staff. SEDA College will provide students with key information regarding workplace skills and securing a placement as well as assist students with the process as required. Students may complete their placement in sport and recreation industries or in other industries if they choose.
SEDA College graduates can continue further education by undertaking a course at a variety of external institutions.

They also have the opportunity to University upon completion of a variety of options.
