Scholarships

SEDA College SA and our partners (Adelaide Crows, Netball SA and the South Australian Cricket Association) are pleased to announce ‘Scholarships and Bursaries’ are available for Year 11 and 12 Students in South Australia for the 2019 and 2020 academic year.

Scholarships and Bursaries are open to SEDA applicants who meet the criteria. Additionally, there are several Indigenous Scholarships available. Indigenous young people who are passionate about sport are highly encouraged to apply.

The three ‘Scholarships and Bursaries’ available are Excellence, Equity and Indigenous.

EXCELLENCE

The Excellence Scholarships and Bursaries are designed for Year 11 and Year 12 students who can demonstrate authentic excellence in one or more specific categories.

Categories may include:

  • Genuine elite-level participation and performance in a sport
  • An ability to demonstrate exceptionally high-potential in leadership
  • An ability to be an ambassadorial member of the student body
  • An ability to demonstrate high-potential for exceptional outcomes academically
    • Contact the Admissions Team and request an application pack for an Excellence Scholarship and Bursary
    • Applicants must read the information in the application pack
    • Using the guidance in the application pack, applicants must complete two initial tasks as stage 1 of the application process:
      Write a Personal Statement addressing the key points contained within the guidelines in the application pack
      Write a detailed Curriculum Vitae that supports claims of excellence
    • Applicants must send the Personal Statement and CV to the Principal by email at matthewd@seda.sa.edu.au with the subject header: Excellence Scholarship and Bursary Application
    • If successful in stage 1, again, using the guidance in the application pack, applicants must prepare a presentation to be delivered at interview
    • Applicants attend an interview as the stage 2 component of their application
    • Subsequent to the interview, applicants receive written confirmation of the outcome of their application within 48 hours

Applications are considered upon an individual basis


Equity

The Equity Scholarships and Bursaries are designed to enable Year 11 and Year 12 students to attend the College who may otherwise not able to due to one or more factors of disadvantage. This may include one or more of the following:

  • Low family income
  • Low levels of English
  • Individual disability/ies
  • Any other single or group of factors that historically influences low attainment and poorer outcomes in a school setting
  • Contact the Admissions Team and request an application form for an Equity Scholarship/Bursary
  • Complete the application form including all compulsory supporting documents
  • Complete the application form including all compulsory supporting documents
  • Submit the completed application to the Principal by email at matthewd@seda.sa.edu.auwith the subject header: Equity Scholarship and Bursary Application
  • Applicants will attend an interview and within 48 hours receive written confirmation of the outcome of the Equity Scholarship and Bursary application
  • Applications are considered upon an individual basis


Indigenous

Indigenous Scholarships are designed to empower young Indigenous people who are passionate about sport, dedicated to reaching their full potential and committed to using all the unique opportunities that SEDA College SA can provide.

There are 10 scholarships available in 2019 and 2020.

As a scholarship or bursary student, in addition to completing senior secondary education with the College, all will have the opportunity to undertake high-quality personal development in the College’s ‘Leadership and Mentoring Program.’

This development will be accessible in a supportive learning environment that enables all to build up a portfolio of work and academic skills, through hands on learning, linked strongly to the sport and recreation industry. Further, all will have significant opportunities to develop networks, unique experiences and create a planned, personalised and suitable pathway to employment and/or higher education.
